Once upon a time there was a very rich man
He didn’t like gardens he had a different plan
He said: I want a square, a deck made out of concrete
And it needs to be big, cause I don’t like petit
He felt generous and offered 50 million pounds
He went to the council and said: I want your grounds
but that is not all, cause I want you to pay
and about the design, you won’t get a say
And if you complain, he said, then I’ll get my friends
Cause the ACSEF gang is behind me 100%
They got money and power so you’d better be good
Don’t give me any trouble, is that understood?
But then he came across this wild arty bunch
They were ready to give him a knock-out punch
They had planning permission and nearly all of their funds
For a pretty art centre, so they pulled out their guns…
They yelled: why-oh-why did you pick the same spot
And stop bossing around like you’re some sort of god
Go and play somewhere else and take all of your cash
Cause we will send Katie & Fraser…and they’ll beat you to mash!
Aberdeen is a funny old town
But we have to get rid of this bullying clown
Let’s save the gardens and make Aberdeen proud
Let’s join forces and sing along loud:
We want TREES – but we don’t want Wood
We want Trees, we want gardens we want art,
But we don’t want Wood
We want TREES – but we don’t want Wood
We wants Trees, we want gardens we want grass
But we don’t want Wood
No-no we don’t want Wood
